In a recent Reddit post on a Dragon Ball sub-Reddit, Dragon Ball Z fans showed a great deal of love for young Master Roshi and it started to make me think. Why hasn’t a young Master Roshi been included as a playable character in a Dragon Ball game yet?
Yes, there was a long time since Master Roshi was a relevant fighter, as the early stages of Dragon Ball Z showcased he decline in necessity. However, in recent times, Master Roshi has burst back into relevance in the Dragon Ball Super series.
In fact, right now, Roshi could possibly even be the strongest human in the series, unlocking an early level of Ultra Instinct and having his Evil Containment Wave play a vital role against Zamasu. As a result, the creator of numerous techniques such as the Kamehameha Wave, returned to a game in Dragon Ball FighterZ as DLC.
It was the first time Roshi has been included in a game for over 15 years! Now, though, with Roshi back in the spotlight, some fans would liek to see more of his adventures as a young man. Roshi before Goku’s story lives for over 250 years, won multiple World Martial Arts Tournaments, became the worlds strongest man and even defeated Demon King Piccolo.

His rivalry with his former friend and fellow classmate Master Shen was legendary. Then there are the numerous powerful students he helped train. The legendary Ox King and Grampa Gohan well before Krillin and Goku arrives. However, we have seen little of that time-period.
A short-story in a game would be fun to play and very different to what we are used to. It would be perfect in a setting like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which incorporates time travel. Hopefully, one day, we will see more of young Roshi.
