Just yesterday it was announced that Ubisoft has registered the domain Prince of Persia 6, which has excited long time fans off the game. Prince of Persia was first released in 1989 and has had a number of sequel games, remasters and even a movie created after its first release. The franchise is arguably the most successful series that Ubisoft has created. I say arguably, as some would say Assassins Creed has taken that mantle, a series that I will cover in a second.
It has been 10 years since a console Prince of Persia game was released in The Forgotten Sands, with a mobile game coming out in 2018 titled “Escape” being the only release since. Therefore, it comes to no surprise that a new Prince of Persia game is quite exciting for its deprived fandom.

Now, onto the other rival Ubisoft series, a franchise that was meant to originally be another Prince of Persia game but transformed into something even more special. Assassins Creed is the reason we have not seen much from the Prince of Persia franchise, as the games started to really take off around the time Prince of Perisa started to slow down. Originally released in 2006, Assassins Creed has had even more console, mobile and hand-held games released than Prince of Persia, as well as a successful novel series. comics and even a movie too.
These games are two of Ubisoft’s best and the most interesting thing is, they are both so similar. Both games are based in history, with both games also adding elements of supernatural powers to the scene too. The gameplay and character movements are also quite similar, as both franchises focus on athletic warriors who scale anything that they can possibly climb and of course, battle against hordes of soldiers.

In addition, both games are owned by Ubisoft, which means that they can do whatever they like. There is nothing stopping them from doing this at all. We have seen Far Cry and Watchdogs enter the Assassins Creed universe (as fictional games). We know that Abstergo creates games and many of those games are actual events of the past, accessed through the help of the Animus (Assassins Creed: Liberations). So, why is it impossible for Prince of Persia to enter the Assassins Creed universe as well? The main characters would make great Assassins.

We have seen a connection to a “Prince of Persia” in Assassins Creed Oddessy but no official ties to the series. This connection was through a side quest where Kasandra helped an old blind man who turned out to be the former Persian King Artaxerxes.
Maybe a full Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed crossover game would be a bit much but maybe a DLC could work. I mean, Assassins Creed Valhalla isn’t too far away and if Ubisoft is starting to work on a Prince of Persia game, it’s possible that they could make a DLC, which works with either game and momentarily allows you to cross them over. Obviously, Vikings and the Persians lived in completely different times but through a DLC or even an Animus glitch that enables you to travel to a different time period, we could see the two briefly connect.
