Last month Netflix revealed a teaser for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed live-action Netflix production, as well as an upcoming anime tv series as well. However, outside of that, little more is known about the series’. However, we do know that Ubisoft’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as Executive Producers.
Assassin’s Creed first debuted in 2007 and became an instant gaming hit, with over 155 million copies of the various titles in the franchise having been sold to date (statistics prior to the release of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla). Furthermore, this Netflix project would not be the first live-action Assassin’s Creed live-action adaptation. A film starring Michael Fassbender was released in 2016 and it went on to gross over $240 million worldwide.
The end of the film hinted that there was more to come as well, with numerous side-novels within the Assassin’s Creed expended universe highlighting characters shown from that movie. As a result, many fans are wondering if we will see Michael Fassbender return as either Aguilar de Nerha or Callum Lynch in the upcoming Netflix series.
Thus far, there has been no confirmation that Fassbender either will or will not be involved with either the animated as a voice actor or within live-action series. However, Fassbender is currently working on two movie productions in Next Goal Wins and Kung Fury 2, which means his schedule is already quite full in the near future.
Furthermore, Fassbender hasn’t played a role in a TV series of any-kind (according to Wikipedia) since 2008 and has had minimal animated work in general over his career. Therefore, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that he will play a part in the Assassin’s Creed Netflix series anytime soon.
In saying that though, the productions will hopefully have more than one season and that might mean that Fassbender could be in the series in later seasons. I guess we will have to keep an eye out on Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed’s official Twitter account for any new updates.
