The Boruto Naruto Next Generations anime and manga, after some speculation early on, has made its own way into Naruto fans hearts. At the time of writing this, the manga has 53 chapters and the anime has 180 episodes, as well as the Boruto: Naruto the Movie animated film. However, it has been some time since that movie’s release and many fans are wondering when we will get a second.
Boruto: Naruto the Movie was first released in 2015 and after promising reviews from Naruto fans, production for the anime began only months after Naruto Shippuden ended. The Boruto: Naruto the Movie is set in a time of peace and years after the end of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. The movie, manga and anime have showcased young characters from Naruto all grown up and a huge line-up of new characters, with new abilities as well.
With such success, it makes many wonder why there has been no second movie yet. Late last year, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, took over as manga illustrator and writer again. With his return, we might see more similarities between Boruto and Naruto in terms of content releases.
The first Naruto movie aired in 2004, after only two years after the first episode of Naruto was released. This is slightly different from Boruto, which had its movie air first. Furthermore, since the release of the first Naruto film, more were released almost annually all the way through Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
With Kishimoto in charge again, it’s possible that we might see more Boruto content than previously seen in the past five years from Boruto Naruto Next Generations. Furthermore, Naruto voice actors in Spike Spencer and Steve Staley, both in exclusive interviews with myself in 2020, revealed that they firmly believed that Boruto could be bigger than the Naruto series was.
For Boruto to really surpass Naruto as a series, more movie content is required. I believe that there will be more movie content soon. If you want to see the full interviews with Spencer and Staley you can through our YouTube channel by hitting the button below.
