Both Josh Dunkley and Dustin Martin’s names have been circulating amongst SuperCoach players but not for the usual reasons. The two both succumbed to injury in their respective games over the weekend and as a result, trading them away has been mentioned numerous times all over SuperCoach social media.
So, I will now weigh in on the topic and answer the question, “should I trade Josh Dunkley or/and Dustin Martin?” Let’s start with Dunkley, the forward-midfielder from the red-hot Western Bulldogs. Dunkley is having a superb season, averaging 129 SuperCoach points per-game, with him still managing 132 after dislocating his shoulder, twice, last week.
Dunkley has been an incredible asset to every coach who has fielded him this year but as it stands, he could be looking at an extended period of time on the sidelines. As a result, many coaches are eager to move on from him but is that the best decision? I personally thought we should wait and see what the scan results are before making a call.
However, SEN & Fox Footy have reported this afternoon that Dunkley will be missing up to 12-14 weeks. Now, time to move on. But do take into account that he’s not reducing in value while he doesn’t play and he could still be the best performing forward once again, when he does return. With the lack of quality forward options this year, a long-term approach might benefit you leading into finals, if you can afford to hold him. But then again, there’s nothing stopping you from trading him back in later on.
