SuperCoach 2023 Round 5 POD Watch: Jake Lloyd

Jake Lloyd was once upon a time one of the must-have defenders for all SuperCoach sides, after averaging 112 in 2018, 108.9 in 2019, 122.2 in 20202 & 107.8 in 2021. However, Lloyd being a necessity ended last season after a disappointing 92.1 average. This is why Lloyd is currently in only 2.9% of SuperCoach teams in 2023, but that number is slowly growing, as he is now the 5th most traded-in defender in round 5.

The 29-year-old is averaging 103.8 this season thus far after scores of 100, 102, 93 and 120. This form has resulted in Lloyd’s price jumping to $519,700 after two price changes and the increases will likely continue. Lloyd’s BE is only 85 this week and he historically scores well against his next two opponents in Richmond and Geelong, scoring over 100 points in all of his last three games against both sides.

The duel Sydney Best & Fairest winner had 5 kick-ins on the weekend and 3 in each of the three matches prior, which makes Lloyd one of the main play-makers in defence for the Swans. There are a number of coaches scrambling to find an option for the injured Sam Docherty this week and Jake Lloyd is someone you should seriously consider.

I can easily see Lloyd finishing the season as a top-8 defender and keeper option. It’s doubtful that we will see Lloyd remaining below $550,000 this season so, you will be snapping him up at a decent price this week and you will be gaining a POD.
