In the exclusive backstage interview, McIntyre confirmed that a spin-off was meant to be produced. “Nobody wanted to finish that show because it was so much fun to work on and so, I believe that there were pretty serious talks about doing a spin-off,” said McIntyre during the interview. However, for whatever reason, the series’ planning ended and production never took place.
What would that spin-off have looked like? Well, it would have been a continuation to the events that took place next. This likely would have focused on the legendary rise of Caesar. Before that though, it means that we would have seen the birth of the First Triumvirate with Gaius Julius Caesar, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus and Marcus Licinius Crassus. This could have then continued on to show us Cleopatra, Caesar’s assassination, the Second Triumvirate and even the rise of the Roman Empire with Augustus at the helm.
Despite it being eight years since Spartacus ended, fans and McIntyre are still hopeful that we will see a spin-off created in the future, showcasing such an important time in history. You can check out the full interview with Liam McIntyre in the video below.
