Some good news for One Piece fans who have been a little sceptical of the upcoming One Piece Live-Action Netflix Adaptation of the series. According to recent reports by the Netflix writing team and Matt Owens, the showrunner of the production, Eiichiro Oda and his team will play a big part in the Netflix story.
“It’s always a conversation between us and Oda and his team,” the writer said. “We always go back to the source material,” said Owens in a recent interview.
However, in saying that, Owens also did confirm that there will be slight changes to the story but these will not be major things. This means no leaving Krillin out of Dragon Ball Evolution type changes.
“No changes come because it’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t like the Arlong fight…” There’s nothing like that.”
This is the first time that anyone has attempted to create a One Piece live-action, a task that many assumed to be quite difficult due to the strange characters in the series. However, Netflix does have a decent amount of experience in re-creating live-action adaptations and with Oda being directly involved, this could be a good series.
