The announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s second DLC was revealed a few months ago and as expected, the DLC will focus on the events of the Dragon Ball Z: Reresection of F movie. Some fans (myself included) viewed this as disappointing, as this exact DLC has been used repeatedly in previous Dragon Ball titles and wasn’t anything new.
However, upon looking at the latest DLC trailer that Bandai Namco just released, as well as the gameplay clips, this DLC looks better than expected. As assumed, Vegeta and Goku are getting their Super Saiyan Blue transformations and Frieza will be getting his Golden form as well.
Although, what was unexpected, is that Gohan, Goten and Trunks will play a part in the DLC too. The younger two were absent from the film when it came to the main fight but in the Dragon Ball Super episodes, they did play a part. Since Bandai were expected to follow the story of the film, it’s surprising that they would be included.
Then we have Gohan, one the most popular characters in the Dragon Ball Z series, especially after his fight against Cell. However, since that time, Gohan has fallen in an out of relevance in the story. Gohan’s lowest point would have to be, without question, his efforts when Frieza returned. The very skinny Gohan was barley even able to transform into a Super Saiyan and was beaten easily by fighter who should have been well beneath him.
Then the insults continued in Dragon Ball Super, as the anime extended his failure as a fighter, being toyed with by Frieza. It was a big blow for Gohan fans and his Green Jump-Suit was viewed as w worse experience than his time as the Great Saiyaman.
However, Bandai Namco, based on the brief gameplay clips, have decided to not include this version of Gohan. In fact, it looks like Ultimate Gohan will be making an appearance, which will excite Gohan fans. Furthermore, there will be differences made to the story we know as well. As a result, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I am now excited for this new DLC package.
