The latest Dragon Ball Super manga chapter gave us a lot of information about the life of Goku’s Saiyan family. But as everyone focused on Bardock and Gine, there was another who briefly appeared that caught my interest.
We’ve already seen what a Saiyan can do when brought up in another environment, away from the constant encouragement of power and greed.
That example is obviously Goku, who has grown up to be a saviour, not a conqueror. Unfortunately, for Goku’s brother Raditz, that wasn’t an option and lived a very different life. However, despite the environment that Raditz was born in, there was a time that Raditz rebelled against the expectations of his people.

The latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super, which was written by Akira Toriyama, showcased some brief moments of a very young Raditz. An innocent Raditz who laughed and played with friends. Exploring life around him, rather than destroying it as he would do in later years.
It’s at this moment that if Raditz was the one sent away, his life could have turned out to be less about destruction and chaos. Goku has given many enemies second chances to form a better life. Majin Buu, Vegeta, Piccolo, Cell (Senzu Bean) and Frieza (twice) are just a few. However, Raditz’s sins were, to Goku at least, worse and thus, didn’t result in another opportunity for a fresh start.
It’s sad because at this moment that you see above, might have been one of the few times Raditz was allowed to enjoy any moment that didn’t involve the misery of others.
