The Dragon Ball series hasn’t always been very nice to the best friend of Goku, with Krillin being the first major character to die. In fact, Krillin has died four times in total within the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT series’. This is all due to a lack of character progression since the Frieza saga for all humans, which essentially made them useless.
Krillin was considered so useless of a character that he became a main joke during the mock Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball Z Abridged and wasn’t even included in the live-action adaptation in Dragon Ball Evolution. Although, I’m sure Krillin was happy to not be involved in that epic mess of a film.
Still, Krillin was once a vital character to the Dragon Ball series, with him being the strongest human at the end of Dragon Ball Z and arguably possessing the most dangerous combo attack. That attack being Destructo Disk and Solar Flare. Although, considering how powerful everyone else was all around him, that wasn’t that impressive. However, Dragon Ball Super has been returning other formerly irrelevant characters back to relevance. A good example is through Master Roshi who played a pretty big role in the Tournament of Power.
Roshi was given some major power-ups, epic battles and even accessed an early stage of Ultra Instinct. As a result, there’s now a chance that other characters could be given the same if not similar treatment soon. One of those characters is Krillin, who has already been given a new attack before the Tournament of Power began. Although, that wasn’t enough to make a big impact. Still, he did better than Tien I suppose.
So, what’s next for Krillin? Well there are two genuine possibilities for Krillin to grow his power. The first is through the teachings of Master Roshi. Krillin being a student of Roshi should have by now learned his masters Max Power transformation. He sadly hasn’t but it’s definitely a possibility for Krillin. The next technique Krillin could potentially master is from King Kai, a master who he never had the privilege of being trained by him like many of his other friends.
Originally, the Kaioken was something only Goku’s body could handle but it has been a while since that point and Krillin has improved a lot since then. If Krillin was to learn either of these techniques or even master both, they would allow him to grow enormously in power. In addition, it’s technically possible for Krillin to grow in power using Fusion or Ultra Instinct and as much as I wish Krillin would unlock Ultra Instinct, it’s very unlikely. While as for Fusion, that’s a technique that has just been made redundant in the Dragon Ball Super manga.
