Just last week we finally received the latest DLC addition to Dragon Ball FighterZ, with Master Roshi arriving as a playable character. Many fans and players of Dragon Ball FighterZ criticized Bandai Namco for this move but recent screenshots of him have proven that he is a very dangerous fighter.
In the Dragon Ball series, the teacher of Goku was a vital character. Master Roshi invented the Kamehama Wave, defeated Demon King Piccolo, was a legend after winning multiple World Martial Arts Tournaments, can live forever and is still one of the few characters to have actually beaten Goku in a fight.
However, his relevance was stripped from him in Dragon Ball Z and was basically forgotten in Dragon Ball GT. Then came Dragon Ball Super and suddenly, Roshi was back better than ever. The former teacher of Goku played an important role in defending the earth against Frieza’s invading army and then later in the Tournament of Power.
Furthermore, Master Roshi even awakened an early version of Ultra Instinct in the Dragon Ball Super manga, which sadly wasn’t included in the anime. Now, it appears as if nothing was left out in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the first game Roshi has appeared in as a playable character since Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in 2007.
As you can clearly see in the photo’s attached in this article, Master Roshi is fast, faster than Ultra Instinct Goku himself. At first, it appeared as if Ultra Instinct Goku easily dodged the old man’s attack but then, Goku was struck, something even Jiren could barley do when Goku was in that state.
For all those who though Master Roshi was a wasted character slot just remember, yes, he can’t fly but he does have powerful sealing techniques, the Kamehameha Wave, is the only human with a transformation of any kind and can also access Ultra Instinct, even if the game doesn’t specifically list it as an ability.
