I have been playing Among Us now a little too much over the past month, with usually a full line-up of friends to make the game as interesting and intense as possible. However, the other night we didn’t have the 10 players we usually have so, we decided to open the server to random players and that’s when we discovered Among Us’s online issues.
Too many times did I see players immediately leave, who were not imposters or imposters/players leave as soon as they were killed or voted out as being potential Imposters. These rage quitters are sore losers and ruin the game for other players.
For the Crewmates, it’s their jobs to complete all the tasks and survive while they sus out the imposters. While as for the Imposters, it’s their roles to sabotage and kill off all the Crewmates. When players immediately leave because they weren’t the imposter that round or leave when they’re killed, it disadvantages the other team.
For the Cremates, it means that there are fewer players to sus-out the Imposters and less targets for the Imposters as well, which makes their victory easier. While as a ghost, after a player dies, you can still complete your tasks as a dead Crewmate and sabotage if you’re an Imposter, which can help either side.
However, when these players ditch because it’s not as fun for those few minutes you’re dead, it means that there are fewer players helping out with tasks and sabotaging. These rage quitters are not team players in a game that focuses on teamwork.
Other gaming publishers such as Bandai Namco penalise with temporary bans for players who continuously rage quit, with the penalty getting harsher the more a player does it. By doing this, it will ensure that all players have a fairer experience when playing Among Us, as more of these sore losers are starting to appear.
