2023 AFL SuperCoach MVP & Rising Star

With the 2023 AFL SuperCoach season completed for another year, we can now reflect on the absolute must-have players. The first is the Most Valuable Player, the one who coaches relied upon to captain most weeks and rarely regretted it. The other was the young rookie who exploded, made us a lot of cash and even turned himself into a premium player that you could keep all the way up to your finals series.

2023 AFL SuperCoach MVP

Marus Bontempelli has had his best AFL season to date and is one of the favourites to take home the 2023 Brownlow medal. However, most importantly, he has won himself a SuperCoach MVP! Bont ended the season averaging 129.7 SuperCoach points and scored over 100 points in every game bar round 3 against Brisbane, where he finished with 89. Bont’s best score was 182 against Fremantle and reached 160+ scores on three additional occasions. After starting the season priced at $639,500 he actually made coaches who started him money, finishing the year valued at $691,300!

2023 AFL SuperCoach Rising Star

What a debut season. North Melbourne’s Harry Sheezel finished his first AFL season averaging 99.5 SuperCoach points and has smashed the record for the most disposals in a debut season. This makes him one of the favourites to win the actual AFL Rising Star award. Sheezel scored over 100 points in 15 of his 23 AFL games. This gives Sheezel a better average and 100+ score record than Nick Daicos in 2022. Honestly, I’m tempted to start Sheezel again in 2024.
